SEN. FOSTER HONORED BY INDEPENDENT BANKERS OF COLORADO
Senator Joyce Foster given Democrat Freshman Legislator of the Year award

VAIL, CO—The Independent Bankers of Colorado (IBC) presented Senator Joyce Foster with the IBC 2009 Democrat Freshman of the Year Award in Vail Colorado, during the IBC’s annual membership convention.

The Freshman Legislator of the Year Award is given to those lawmakers serving their first year who have quickly risen to prominence by their skilful advocacy and ability to work with both sides of the isle on issues of importance to independent community banks and the communities we serve, especially small businesses and family farms and ranches. These legislators are known for their willingness to listen to their constituents and work with all interested parties to reach consensus.

Senator Foster works diligently to fight for what is best for Denver and its diverse constituents. She supports strong local business, safe neighborhoods, good schools, and a vibrant state capitol. In one legislative session, she quickly became a key vote on high profile legislation.

“Senator Foster is a key vote on mattes of importance to independent community banks and the communities we serve—especially small businesses,” said Barbara Walker, Executive Director of IBC. “She quickly became a prominent Democrat in the legislature who is both willing and able to work for sound public policy regardless of which party originated legislation. We are looking forward to working with Senator Foster in the years to come. She is a true leader.”

Senator Foster served on the Business, Labor and Technology and Local Government committees and is currently chairing the interim committee on the Business Personal Property Tax.

The Independent Bankers of Colorado represent over 110 community banks doing business in over 500 locations throughout Colorado. The IBC believes in the enhancement and promotion of strong community banks and Main Street prosperity. It is the IBC mission to serve and promote local communities, small businesses, and family farm and ranches throughout Colorado.
