Joyce Foster raises $60,000 for Senate Race
Offers free round trip light rail passes to Denver Democratic Assembly

DENVER - Colorado Senate District 35 candidate Joyce Foster (D-Denver), raised more than $60,000 in three months without accepting contributions from special interest groups or political action committees.

“I’m the cheapest date in town.” said Foster, a former 10-year Denver City Councilwoman. “While I welcome endorsements from diverse people, community and professional associations, and while I’m available to listen to all sides, interests and parties, I simply don’t accept campaign contributions from special interest groups or PACs.”

Foster is running for the Colorado Senate seat being vacated by Senate Majority Leader Ken Gordon (D-Denver), who himself won seven consecutive elections for the Colorado Legislature without accepting political action committee or special interest group money. Gordon is term limited.

“So far, I’m very pleased and cautiously optimistic,” said Foster. “Democratic voters seem to like my consensus-building approach to problem solving and my “No PAC Money” pledge. More than 500 people attended my announcement party at the Lowry Tavern and we did unexpectedly well in the Democratic precinct caucuses. That said, I work hard and take nothing for granted.”

In an interesting campaign twist, after working for years on SE Denver’s T-REX light rail and highway expansion project, Foster is putting her money where her mouth is. Foster recently directed her campaign to purchase round-trip RTD light rail passes for Delegates and Alternates in Senate District 35, thereby making it much easier for them to participate, hassle-free, in Denver’s Democratic Assembly and Convention on March 8 at the Colorado Convention Center.

“SE Denver light rail is a fabulous public amenity. I spent 10 years on City Council working to help refine and deliver the project. If I can simultaneously help limit traffic congestion and air pollution and help Democratic Delegates and Alternates avoid spending $10 to park while dropping them off and picking them up directly at the Convention Center, how can I afford not to?”

More than 100 Delegates and Alternates in Senate District 35 have signed up for Foster’s offer.
